This weekend CRC Elite will compete in the USATF National Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. This is one of a few national races that scores club teams and a rare chance for post-collegiate athletes to race cross country. Both opportunities draw some of the fastest club teams in the country, and more than 2,000 total runners are expected to participate.
In preparation for the race, CRC Elite members have been training hard together meeting for long runs, workouts, and racing side by side. On November 12th, both teams swept the USATF-Ohio Country Championships at Otterbein, scoring 15 points each. Many members also competed in local turkey trots on Thanksgiving day, placing in the top 10 of each respective race.
The USATF National Club Cross Country Championships began in 1980 and were last held in Florida in 1998. This will be CRC Elite’s first championship in Florida and first national Cross Country Championship race in three years. The women’s team will be represented by Meg Gibson, Jessica Hoover, Kelsey McAlpine, Emily Odle, and Jenny Sanderson. The men’s team will be represented by Eli Gerlach, Cory Irwin, Jack Schlabig, Evan Schwartz, Logan Wells, and Dustin Whitehair.
The women’s 6k Championship race will begin at Saturday, December 10th at 10:45 a.m. while the men’s 10k Championship race will begin at 11:30 a.m. Follow us on instagram for updates throughout the weekend, and watch live results here!
